The BRUINGTON Experience http://blog.stephenbruington.com Live for yourself, give to others and embrace spontaneity. posterous.com Sat, 09 Apr 2011 18:30:00 -0700 Goodbye, Posterous. http://blog.stephenbruington.com/goodbye-posterous http://blog.stephenbruington.com/goodbye-posterous

As you can see I don't use Posterous anymore. I love the concept and commend it's founders, but it's not for me, at least not as my primary outlet for sharing my story with the world. Don't get me wrong, I still use Posterous, in fact I've been keeping a somewhat erratic history of the development of my unborn baby here. I'm also playing the game Health Month and writing about it here.

For most of my online contribution I'm sticking to Wordpress and tumblr. I use Wordpress to structure and power my main website, stephenbruington.com. I was going to use Posterous to share audio recordings I've made, but I switched to tumblr for that, as well as pictures and videos; I call my tumblog, My Life, in Pictures.

There are a lot of good reasons to maintain a presence using Posterous, and for those that do, and love it - good for you. If you have any questions or want to know more about me, go to my website or find me on Twitter.

I have a tendency to hold onto things, or at least feel like I have this inseparable connection to things that don't matter, like this site. I'd like to consider this a permanent divorce between 'stephenbruington.posterous.com' and the man, Stephen Bruington. With that, I bid you "Adieu"!

Mon, 04 Oct 2010 18:07:00 -0700 Howard and the Merge Lane http://blog.stephenbruington.com/howard-and-the-merge-lane http://blog.stephenbruington.com/howard-and-the-merge-lane

(transcript)

I was driving down the highway the other day, the speed limit was about 55, of course I was doing about 49.

I was in the right lane, you know where slow folks are usually found, and I noticed one of them signs that tells you another lane might be merging into mine.

I stayed in my lane, and uh, as I got up to the merge lane a car just kind of appeared out of nowhere and just about bought the right side of my car!

And I was like, “Whoooa!”, and when I looked over at the driver of the car, just as he was slammin’ on his brakes, and rammin’ himself into the guardrail to keep from running into my car, he done thowed up his hand and showed me his middle finger.

And I was like, “What in the hell?” Who does this guy think he is anyway? I mean, it’s not like I own the road, but I was here first.

Sat, 02 Oct 2010 21:48:00 -0700 Turn Signals http://blog.stephenbruington.com/turn-signals http://blog.stephenbruington.com/turn-signals

This random recording (the audio of which is still encapsulated within the confines of my iPhone) came as a result of ignorant drivers with which I was associated on Route 220 earlier this evening.

Turn Signals.m4a Listen on Posterous

(transcript)

"You know turn signals weren’t designed and installed on cars so that when small children saw them blinking, they would stare and say, “Oooh pretty!” They’re there for you to signal other drivers (pun intended) of your intentions, whether it be to change lanes, or turn down the street. USE THEM!"

Sun, 16 Aug 2009 07:35:39 -0700 Plain and simple, easy. http://blog.stephenbruington.com/plain-and-simple-easy http://blog.stephenbruington.com/plain-and-simple-easy

I never thought I would have ended up on 'posterous' through TweetDeck.com, but alas, that's how this relationship began. I was browsing my flock of followers on Twitter and noticed someone using TweetDeck. I've used this app in the past, but find it easier to post directly from the web or my BlackBerry. I typed 'tweetdeck' into Google Chrome's address bar and was taken here. From TweetDeck.com I discovered their blog is housed with and maintained by 'posterous'. And *that, my friends is the rest of the story.

I'm going to attempt to migrate my "shtuff" over here because this site is just better. It's plain, simple and easy.
